All About Smart Lipo

Tuesday, January 14th, 2014

Smart lipo was approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use inside of the United States in 2006. It is now the most popular laser lipo procedure in America. This procedure works by using a laser to melt and destroy the fat cells. Not only does smart lipo reduce body fat, but it also helps tighten the skin. It is estimated that 70 percent of people who get smart lipo notice skin tightening.

Smart lipo is performed under local anesthesia. The first step in performing laser liposuction is to make an incision. This incision is very small. It is only one or two millimeters in size. After that, the surgeon will insert the cannula into the target area. The cannula delivers the laser energy to the fat cells by moving back and forth.

After the fat has been liquefied, it will be removed from the body via suction. The laser’s heat coagulates the underlying blood vessels immediately. This results in less bruising, swelling and bleeding. Patients will also be able to recover in a shorter amount of time.

It takes 45 minutes to one hour to perform smart lipo on one area of the body. The results of this procedure are noticed immediately, and they will continue to improve over the next three to six months. Your body does not produce more fat cells. The fat cells simply expand when you gain weight. You will be able to maintain the results of smart lipo if you exercise and follow a healthy diet.

If you live in the Shrewsbury or Worchester Massachusetts area and are looking for someone to perform smart lipo, then you should consider contacting New England Laser Lipo. Dr. Richard Freniere and Dr. Paul Willis were the first doctors in the area to offer smart lipo.
